Loading up for @umpquavalleyfarmersmarket - we're in a sweet spot with all the goodies autumn brings but no frost - yet. Tomorrow I'll be bringing the pumpkins and flowers but sadly the mutts will be at home taking care of the goats and @whistlepostpottery
My friend Doris
Moody sunflowers, mist on the mountain, tarps. Summer has fallen.
I really, really need to be prepping for @umpquavalleyfarmersmarket but can't stop watching the boys eat melon. How can something this simple be this engaging?
Oops! Change of plan. I'm postponing Canyonville Market until next Wednesday. These fresh picks are now headed to @old_soul_pizza so see you later downtown Roseburg!
Trying a new thing - heading to Canyonville Farmers Market tomorrow. Got to share this falling into autumn bounty.
Okay @umpquavalleyfarmersmarket here's a taste of what you're getting today. See you soon.
Yes, yes and furthermore yes! Autumn is on her way. Watch out - white pumpkins coming to market soon but not just yet. Tomorrow @umpquavalleyfarmersmarket will be a dahlia fest. But I'm so gaa-gaa about the pumpkins I had to show off.
That's my mom. That's a spectacular bouquet by @littleislandflowers The amazing Kim took on the task of getting local, lovely seasonal flowers to my mom on her birthday. Oh yeah and growing all these beauties. She went above and beyond. Thanks to Kim and also the network of @pnwcfg for making a place for flower farmers to discover and meet other flower farmers.
Lisianthus is much lower than ball on Doris's priority list.
I will always say yes to yellow
The boys. One week since all of us joined the herd and we're feeling pretty mighty.
Organza bags - no longer just for dahlias. Unfortunately. Something's eating my precious Lisianthus. 😬 We've got cucumber beetles, aphids and all sorts of irritants. But this is what pesticide-free looks like to me. More time, more effort but no run-off into my well water, the creek we live on or junk on the flowers you put your nose up to to smell. To some it may seem unnecessary - let's face it, we're surrounded by crud all day. But to me it's a small thing I have some control over and that matters.
These are a few of my favorite things - my girl Frida and my pumpkin patch full of minis.
@old_soul_pizza go and get it. Bright colors to contrast this (nice) rainy day.
And then there were four. Mac(adamia) and Peanut have joined the gang. It's been a busy day. Hopefully a belly full of blackberry and straight to bed.
Good morning from Chickpea and Garbanzo
Bundles of summer goodness heading to @old_soul_pizza available from 2:30 today. These are for anyone to grab and this is a weekly drop - just been too goat crazy to post about it. So have some delicious pizza and beer treat yourself to summer flowers.
New friend found in the Monarda. From afar thought it was a hummingbird but up close assuming it's a moth like creature - anyone know? I've got more Monarda than I can cut so now it's become mostly a little wildlife hedge.
Got a spring in my step this Monday because the Lisianthus has finally started to bloom. These hardy seedlings had their heat and light cut off for two weeks in February and sat on a freezing cold window sill waiting for our electric to come back. I had doubts. But here they come.
